I hear you, Bob. I think that what we really need to hope for is that they reconsider just arbitrarily making the switch and re-negotiate the whole thing before it's put in place.

I'm more interested in keeping the best of the beta template, really, but you would have thought that they might have consulted the massive brain trust present here before just telling us what was happening.

Did everyone fill out the survey? That's another good way to let them know what you think. When you click on the link to preview the new page design, there is an option to complete the survey.

There's also a Preview tribe to discuss the new design:

Well, they do need to find a way to make the traffic pay for itself, but I would have been a bit happier if they had approached the issue from the beginning so that it didn't feel like we had been hoodwinked or fooled.

At first I was turned off by the look. Just too weird, and it reminded me of a lot of pre-1998 websites.
As I looked at it, it seemed that the functionality was limited for what I use Tribe for. I pretty much use Tribe to check and leave messages on teh various tribes that I am a member of, so the list of all my tribes, with the number of new messages is the most important thing. Maybe they just hadn't activated it yet, but I didn't see any of that, just a list of a few with a button that said View All Tribes.
