Firstly, get in contact with Stephen Carter at The Oregonian and discuss it with him if you wish. You most likely are familiar with the people in your own district who handle HR issues.

Secondly, you made statements on Show & Tell™ , if even only half true, that indicated a less-than-professional demeanor:

-- purposefully sending your kids home on a sugar high as a kind of revenge against lax, unfit parents, and characterizing them in the most unkind of terms

-- trooping staff and faculty members into your class room to look at your university EDU-class field-experience students' breasts half out of her blouse, rather than requesting that a senior female teeacher or administrator assess the situation and take appropriate action

-- allowing a minor to ingest an unknown substance received from a pen-pal program, something that you assumed to be chocolate candy, and then having the child vomit it up

-- taking unfair advantage of your student teacher by "borrowing" commercial software from him, and apparently letting him solo ASAP so as to free you for your daily hijinks

-- making your entire class cry their hearts out by leading them into a carefully planned discussion of death that started as an examination of the bombing in Madrid, and then proceeded into an examination of the deaths that have affected

-- making steady and consistent use of your internet privileges from school in such a manner and way as to be completely outside the scope of any acceptable use policy that a school district would have in place, especially as concerns the nature of the sites that you have undoubtedly visited

Teachers function in what is called "in loco parentiis," which is a Latin phrase that means "in the place of the parent." It's the basis for the accountability of teachers to both the parents of the children and their employers for the welfare and education of the students, and it's the reason that I called The Oregonian in the first place. I saw something that concerned me, and I responded as I should have. You see, I read your postings, I watched your interaction with others, and I noticed your consistent use of the 'net from work, even taking into account the fact that you were hosting a student teacher. And then I decided that I didn't think that I would have wanted you in my kids' classrooms in any capacity.

Am I holier than thou? No. I did my time in a shit-hole inner city high school, and I've seen the mud and the blood in the bottom of the trenches. The kids there were tough to impossible to deal with at best, and there were times that I just wanted to walk out.

You see, Thadd, not to be dramatic, but I wound up with congestive heart failure on the job. That's why I'm not there. I'm at home making some scratch as a translator and web localizer and trying to get my affairs in order, as my heart continues to turn into a big, ineffectually twitching lump of meat. You pestered me in a private message to know why I'm no longer OTJ, and now you know.

This is the last that I'll have to say about your issues. Teaching is about the kids. It's only about the kids, and that's who I was concerned for. So please, drop the drama here, and let it go. Well, here's the same deafening silence I've always get when I ask this guy to respond to my questions.

Is there anybody out there, who, if a total stranger who's obviously been lurking around your tribe, and tribes you belong to, says that he's contacted your employer and the media wouldn't feel creeped out by it?

Frankly, Chip, that's the only thing that bugs me. Not your indignation over my percieved weakness, not the unfunny altered picture of me that didn't make sense, (I still don't get the poison thing), just the fact that you won't address this single thing.
